The Emergency Department at Sierra Kings District Hospital is a brand-new, ten bed unit, which operates twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week. The unit contains state-of-the-art equipment for rapid assessment and stabilization of the emergently ill or injured patient, as well as access to ancillary services such as imaging, laboratory and respiratory therapy.

Following assessment and diagnosis, patients may be treated and discharged, admitted to Sierra Kings District Hospital for continuing care, or transferred to another hospital for whatever higher level of care need they may have. Referral services are also available.The patient population served by the Emergency Department consists of newborn,pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients requiring or seeking medical care.The Emergency Department is staffed with highly trained professional Registered Nurses and Licensed Vocational nurses, as well as a physician’s assistant. There is a physician on duty at all times.
